We are planing on selling our boat and buying a new triump 210 CC. The only problem is we don't know what kind of outboard to get. We know Honda, Merc, Suzuki and OMC brands are good. The dealer recommended a suzuki 140 hp 4 stroke. I looked on Suzukies web page and they had a test with the 140 hp 4 stroke on a triumph 210 CC. The boat toped out at only 37MPH. The problem is we want the boat to have comparable performenc to what we get with our curent 18ft Four Winns, which has a 5.0 200hp V8 omc Cobra in it. Our top speed is about 50 MPH. The triumph 210 CC can't handle more then 150 hp on the back becuase of weight. Would there be much diffrence in speed between a 140hp 4 stroke and a 150 hp 2 stroke. Even 45 MPH would be nice. What would you people recommend?

Hi, Scupking.

The Suzuki DF140 would give you about 95% of what the Triumph 210 can do with "legal" power.

A large displacement 2 stroke 150 would give you a slightly better hole shot and maybe 2-3 more mph.

If you want to go more than 40mph select a different boat. The Triumph is big and heavy for 140-150hp, but it will ride better than a lighter, faster boat. Most 21' boats are rated for 200-225hp.

Good luck. :)
