where do i go to get grade 8 bolts for pulling the flywheel off. and also if the bolts strips out the threads in flywheel is there another way to remove the flywheel?

yes that is where i got the bolts first time... i got the steel bolts but i didnt see a grade of bolt

grade 8 have the 3 dash marks on the head.(i think its three)..ask someone at Ace for them..

youll have to retap them and get matching bolts of at least grade 8 or better

get good bolts an make sure that puller is aligned right bolts are at about same hight installed use breaker bar it will pop off take your time have done it 6 times this year small and large rudes 175 and 150 go for it

you can get grade 8's at home depot....
They are goldish in color

I am wondering about your technique in applying the puller, stackem.

Screw down the center shaft until it is applying significant pull on the bolts. Then rap the top of the center shaft smartly with a mallet. If that doesn't release the taper give it more tension and try again.

If you depend on the analog pull of the puller to break the grip of the taper without the shock of the mallet rap you are much more likely to damage the flywheel threads.

My hardware guy told me you count the marks on the bolt head and then add 2. So a grade eight bolt would have six marks just like the picture above. Rick.

Mcmaster carr will have grade 8 bolts. Most hardware stores likely will not.

Larger truck terminals often sell a good assortment of grade 8 bolts.

as fr said rap the puller main bolt with deadblow hammer ,then tighten the main bolt again ,it will come loose its hard without rapping the main bolt
