Getting engine from Point A to Point B...

My engine is currently laying in my garage. The thing weighs a ton (Johnson Super Seahorse 80). Given the fact that it weighs a ton, I don't have a cherry picker or a pick-up. What are you ideas for getting to the mechanic??? I really don't want to put it in my C.U.V.

How did you get it to your garage?

Is there a boat attached to the motor? If so can you bring in the whole thing?

It was a team effort to get it to my garage. In the process, I scratched my bumper and cracked the floor on my truck. I want to avoid the engine from being in my truck.

Do you know somebody that has a truck you can borrow, or a trailer. Otherwise, I don't know that you have any options. If you put a piece of plywood on the floor of your vehicle, it will spread the weight and prevent cracking things.

You said you didn't have a truck...

Home Depot or Lowes rents trucks for $20.

Make a cradle out of 6 x 6's..cut to length and bolt the engine to it....then lift it with a spud bar and put water/gas pipe under and move it into position....lift it with bottle jacks and keep putting 4 x 4 blocks until it's high enough to push it on the trailer....or just get a guy with a Jenn-Dan tilt tow truck to winch it on..... rent an engine hoist to lift it into the rented trailer....pay a hillbilly towtruck driver to pick-it, with it dangeling off the hook, deliver it to the shop (did that once with an office safe I had sold) ... for some reason I've had to move alot of weight over the years....the best way to get 10 young guys to lift it as you supervise....

What is a CUV?

The new term for a minivan/station wagon that is being driven by somebody that does not want to admit that they drive a minivan/station wagon.

You and a couple of other guys should be able to pick it up and put it in a small trailer. It's not that heavy!

Now that's funny!

I think I'm just going to rent a little uhaul trailer. The new problem is nobody wants to work on the engine as their are no parts for it. 1960s Johnson Super Seahorse. I'm gonna bring it to my mechanic and see what the deal is.

yep...

With an engine like that, it is far cheaper/better to just sell the engine for parts and find something else. (assuming it isn't just a plugged carb or bad fuel lines. If there are parts that need to be replaced it is likely you may never find it...)

Had a 1962 75 hp like that, ended up parting it out as it was not worth fixing it.

I was able to sell some parts for an ungodly amount to some vintage restoration guys. But that was 5-6 years ago, before the economy tanked.
