Getting Rid of Pitot Speedometer

This winter I will be redoing the dashboard and wiring on a 1991 Rinker 260 Fiesta Vee. The boat has a 454 and Bravo I Outdrive. I plan on getting rid of the pitot driven speedo and installing a LMF-400 gauge instead as I really don't use the mechanical speedo and rely on GPS speed.

How do I go about getting rid of the pitot tubing? Is there a way to block the hole? I really don't water running in through it.

Thank You

Ayuh,... Rip it out, all the way to the lower unit, 'n plug the hole in the transom,...

No Problem....

I have my chartplotter mounted right in front of my speedo on the dash, so my plan was a PMDS conversion.

Poor mans drive shower.... :)

Just undo the fitting from the front of your drive and plug it with a screw. Leave the tubing in place. Why remove it?

I was going to do the same thing, but I had room in the middle of my gauge cluster, so I just drilled a new hole, and installed it there.

Re: Getting Rid of Pitot Speedometer

The wiring is currently a huge mess, so the entire thing will be rewired and cleaned up. In the last few days on the water, the chartplotter would turn off when the bilge pump is turned on yet the they are both on different circuits, so the wiring is beyond bad.

In the process, I want to get rid of the pitot driven speedo, I just don't want water coming through the hole.

Anyone know where the the pitot tube comes through on the transom plate?

Just read my first post and stop making this hard. It's very easy.
