Hi Guys - posting because I have not been able to find anyone with a similar issue and I am stumped. I have a 17' Mako with a 1994 Johnson 120 V4 VRO engine. I am having some weird electrical issues that I can't get to the bottom of.
When I press the "up" trim button I get a brief electrical shock when the switch first clicks. My throttle control has a metal piece and if I press the trim button with my hand touching this metal piece I get the shock. It ONLY happens when I trim up.
I replaced the trim solenoids and it is still happening. I have 2 batteries with a Blue Sea Systems charging relay and battery switch. I have also noticed some electrical corrosion on the terminals of the switch and on my key switch, so my thought is that there is a short somewhere but have not found it with my multimeter.
Any pointers on where to start?
