Hi Guys

Am I missing something here, or is it just about bl88dy impossible to get the spark plugs in/out on a Merc 4.3L V6.

I've got it sitting in a new Bayliner and I can see how you can get your hands (or tools) onto the plugs to change/inspect them.

Any ideas ?

Cheers
Kenny

I just changed mine about 5 minutes ago. I have a different motor but I couldn't get enough top room to fit socket and socket wrench so I put the spark plug socket on and used a open ended wrench on the socket to break free and tighten. Maybe you are having a different fit problem.

You may have to remove the boat from around the engine to gain access. :%

Takes me longer to remove the rear seats and the engine housing than doing a tune up.

Did mine Sunday 4.3 V6 ....I used a thin wall craftsman plug socket.... other than getting the socket on the plug fumbling around, it was not to bad......

A 6 inch piece of 3/8 fuel line does an excellent job of getting the spark plugs reinstalled without cross threading. You know what they say "When you are a crossthreader you don't need lockwashers"
