They look nice.. how are the prices?

EEEEK their prices are larger than a canoe too... specially if you get much more than a base model.

Re: Gheenoe

If you cut one in half, the price should come down. :)

They look like a great family boat, with extra room that a typical canoe woudln't have.

Great Idea... wanna go half n half with me on it? :D

P.S. The more I look at them the more I like them... Can get one on ebay for under 2,000 with motor, trolling motor, gas tank, and batteries... all in all it looks like like a good deal. Not spending on a lot of gas, can pull it with a 4 cylinder car and if gas is putting the crunch on boating... this is a definite option . Im likeing the look more and more... needs a giant Jolly Roger off the bow...(can double as sail) maybe a high whale tale off the rear and about a 30 hp motor.. racing seat and steering wheel and gas pedal. yep.. can ya tell I dont like paddeling.

Re: Gheenoe

Ed, I have one that I purchased from my neighbor. I believe it is the high sider model. It has a 6hp motor on it and will do 15mph with two average sized adults in it. It is very stable and can get into some pretty skinny water. I have only taken it out to the coast twice since I have had it. Will probably use it a bit more after the heat lets up. I really like it for fishing in the Indian and Banana rivers. I do use my 14' Mohawk canoe a bit more because its easier to get out there.

Re: Gheenoe

Guys,

Thanks, went down to a place here that rent's them and had a first hand look. I think I like the classic 15'6" (really neat little bait well).

They are still a little pricy (BTW: thanks Wimper.... had a look at the trader, 13' I think is a little small).

This whole thing started when my wife and I borrowed a neighbors Canoe to take out in the flats (Gulf of Mexico near Clearwater, FL), she had never been in a canoe before and really loved it.

Being who I am I thought we could improve upon the experience with a little more size and power. I think we are going to get a "temporary" solution, a 15' to 16' canoe, and then work on the permanent solution.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Peace.

Ed.

Re: Gheenoe

I like the thought of having one of these. Can pull it with my 4 banger and launch and retrieve so easy with one person. gotta let the wife spend a lil money on the house then i'll be home free again with my boat purchasing habits lol

ed, go down south on US19 in pinellas park to bill jacksons sportong goods. heading south its on the left, just past the overpass behind all the trees. they are an authourized retailer of ghennoe and even if you dont wanna pay their prices, they have a private lake that you can test ride all the gheenoes you want for free

Re: Gheenoe

I had the std 15' and didn't like it. I just fished off a bud's River Hawk B60 and it was much more stable. I stood on a rear corner and the boat was unfazed. Walk back and forth with no problem. One problem with the narrow sterned boats is that you can't fit a trolling motor beside the gas motor unless you make a bracket to mount the trolling motor off to one side of the hull. There is no easy way to mount a trolling motor to the bow either. The River Hawk B60 takes care of these issues.
