I am going to install the new gimbal bearing. Some sites are saying to install the stamp dot to the top facing towards out drive with the two I assume are grease slots towards motor. Others are saying grease hole on bottom toward grease nipple. I assume it would be dot to top. It's a 86 3.0 140 hp motor with the alpha 1 out drive which I assume is gen 1 thanks in advance

Depends on your bearing, if its a sealed bearing (no grease hole) just install with the slots facing forward. If it is non-sealed and has a grease hole, slots face forward and grease hole aligns with zerk fitting. Pay no attention to the dot
