I bought this boat used, 1999 crownline with 5 liter apha 1 engine. is there a fitting somewhere I need to grease the gimbal bearing? I have a Celoc manual but cannot tell if the 1999 engine has a fitting or not. Any comments, advice, lectures are appreciated.

thanks,

It will be on the starboard side of the transome shield and should have a Black Plastic cap on it which may make it hard to see :)

Make sure you use gimble bearing grease

Does that mean it is a no no to use marine axle bearing grease?

Any grease is better than none at all,:) but the additives like teflon & such can cause the bearings to slide rather than roll as they are intended to.....JK

Hmmmm? do I detect a bit of plagerism Haut? Besides, sliding and rolling would probably be better than rock and rolling.
