Volvo Penta 1997, 7.4GIPLKDCE with DP-S drive.

Search and search forums. Found lots of information on gimbal bearings, maintenance, removal and installation. What I would like to know is the OEM p/n or aftermarket equivalent for:

- gimbal bearing removal/puller tool
- gimbal bearing installation tool
- engine alignment tool

I read somewhere that OMC/Mercruiser/Volvo Penta tools are interchangable.

Anyone?

Same tools, I have always used my Merc tools on OMC Cobra and Volvo (94 & newer SX style).

Thank you for your response, Don. Where can I get these tools? What are the p.n.'s?

I used an axle bearing puller from harbor frieght, it swivels and then spreads open. worked great hooked to my slide hammer.. i put the new gimble bearing in the freezer and then drove it in with a short piece of pvc pipe, worked great also. i might be a redneck~~~but i was on the river yeserday!!

I like redneck solutions! I just bought the Harbor Freight axle bearing puller this afternoon (I waited until it was on sale) ... so I'm halfway there ... now if I can just find enough room in my freezer ... I guess I'll have to drink them beers first ... You're a genius!! :D
