gimbal bearing

long time reader, first post<br />it was sunday, getting ready to install out drive<br />(alpha 260 merc)stuck hand in bellows to inspect gimbal bearing. IT DID NOT TURN. it was brand new last year. as i think back there was some oil in bellows when i took it off for winter. freind said it was probaly lube from ujoints from getting warm. now i dont no what to think where should i start other than replacing gimbal bearing. the greese in bellows did not seem to have water in it. help

Welcome to iboats! Are you sure that you were trying to turn the bearing? Oil being in the bearing won't make it lock up, water definately could though. I would pull the bearing out and see why it isn't turning.

When installing the gimbal were you careful to only pound on the outside of the brg. if you pounded on the inside you ruined the brg. installing it
