I recently disassembled housing (along with sliding the engine forward. removing the exhaust pipe, bolts ect) to get at my cracked gimbal ring. It came apart for the most part how I expected. Most bolts were easy, some were hard and some were cooroded. Anyways I was very methodical about keeping everything seperate but in my haste to clean up the garage a few of the cans I had stuff in got tipped over and now I an a bit lost as to where the shims ect go for the ring. Does anyone have a exploded view so I can get them back in order. Also how hard should this turn when all is said and done. Do I need to shim this to get the correct amount of drag so its not too loose but not too tight either. I was a car/heavy truck mechanic for many years so I have most tools for setting clearances ect. A link to the mercruiser manual would be GREAT!!!!!
thanks in advance.

sorry
I forgot to mention its an alpha 1, 3.0 from 1986. T service manual is a big help except it only goes to page six. Am I reading it wrong? Thanks.

Go to the last page and scroll over the outline page and watch the cursor. It knows where the links are and will change to a finger pointing.
