I use a slide hammer, just turn the arms around so they grab the bearing, couple of smaks and your done.
Always worked for me.

Why not just use the 3 jaw puller that typically come with the puller?

For similar $$$ there are some universal kits for gimbal bearing pulling and installation. I got me one a few years ago, but do not recall the exact source. Google your way to the right thing.

That is what I used, worked fine. Just be careful that you do not put it in too far and pull out the grease seal too. If you do, you should be able to put it back in, not much of a seal anyway. BTW you can borrow exactly the same set from Autozone for free. Good luck

Ayuh,.... I bought the same set,... comparatively speakin', they suck...

My buddy, Bob has a set, from I think OTC that works Much better....
Bob's don't have the long threaded piece, but the slidehammer shaft screws directly into the part with the floppy arm attached...

If I were to do it over again,...
I'd keep lookin' til I found the set like Bobby's set...

Why not just use the 3 jaw puller that typically come with the puller?

But Don,....

That's like tellin' a kid, he's got Enough toys, 'n Santa ain't comin' this year....

I've ain't never had Enough toys, 'n I ain't gonna quit buyin' 'em Now.... ;)

Can't argue with that.... Just bought me a nice shiny new TIG welder, an air compressor, and the DIACOM diagnostic software (and a whole bag of connectors)... and I ain't plannin' on quittin' any time soon... :D :D :D

If it's just to buy a new toy, go for it. Having had every mechanical tool I have ever needed, and a wood working shop that I can build classic furniture in, and all sorts of boats, trust me, I have owned and still own my fare share of toys.

But if it's just because you think you "Need" it in order to remove the gimbal bearing and really can't afford it, then that's a different story.
