Hi All,
I've been doing some research on the Alpha one gen 2 drive and I need some help clearing some things up......

Do the 98 and up use a different gimble bearing than the 91-97 models?
If so, what is the difference?

I ask this because I see 2 different part numbers for them.

Thanks

Re: gimble bearing question

The gimball bearing was the same part for the Alphas and Bravos. At one point, they made changes to the Bravo drive that required a change on the gimball bearing. (they machined one side a little). The bearings are the same except for the machined side. In fact, the older part number could be used in the OMC Cobra and King Cobra as well as in the Volvo SX series.

In your case, either bearing will work.

Re: gimble bearing question

Per the parts book,
97 and earlier Alpha I Gen II used the 30-60794A4 bearing
98 and up Alpha I Gen II uses the 30-862540A3 bearing.

Thank you flabum and Don S,
They were the part numbers I come across but really didn't have the serial numbers to coincide with them.
