Give me your opinion on a 135

[Blue Fin 135]

I just pick up a 1974 135 Johnson for a 19 foot aluminum fishing boat. Up until now everything I had was an inboard.

The price was right for this motor and to look at it looks in showroom condition. To me it looked like a very low hour unit.

My question is this?is there anyone out there that has owned on of these beauties?? And what is your opinion of them. The reason I ask is that after researching them I see that they were only manufactured for limited years?was there a problem with them?Please advise.

There was no particular problem with them but the series ended in 1977 with a very different motor being introduced. In 1979 the v4 crossflow engine blocks were standardized and remained very similar until 1997.

Most parts are available and overall the motors are as easy to repair as any of the crossflow motors.
