i just bought a 1977 55hp johnson seahorse from a young gal, she sez the mech. said all it needed was a stator!<br />called the the guy that last worked on it,he agreed!<br />bought a new stator,still no fire! can you give me a starting point to start checking for fireing problems?<br />the guy that worked on it last, sez coils and everything checked out! it's been sitting up for about 2yrs, even tho i see that both coils have a slight crack in them!<br />i put a voltage meter on the new stator,while spinning it over, no reading!<br />Thanks for any help you can give me!<br />Stamper

Hi, Have you checked the kill switch if equipped with one?

i took the box apart that has the throtle and gear lever. the ignition switch is built in there.<br />there is a couple wires thats been cut and taped.<br />and is very dirty in there,spider webs,and rust,etc.<br />would the cut wires be where they disabled the kill switch?
