I'm looking at a 68 or 69 glaspar run about 16' I believe. 65 horse Johnson on the back. Any thoughts on these boats? Good, bad or otherwise? It's in fantastic condition!

What kind of opinions do you want on a boats that's nearing 50 years old?

It's in fantastic condition!

As we always say - Condition, condition, condition.

Ok here are a few pictures. But are there any known issues with these boats in general? Where they good or crap right from the factory?

Looks in great condition and that is really what matters once they get older than 5ish years. Yours is about 10 years older than mine and is in much better shape. Well the hull on the outside anyway. Looks like a solid boat to me that should have lots of life left in it.

Nice looking boat, any way to check the stringers and transom to see if they are solid?

It's not close to home but I can see it pretty much any weekend, except this weekend I'm camping with the scouts.
Oh they are asking $1500

Offer them 1,000 and settle at 1250 if you want it. Yes it looks good but as mentioned it is a 50 year old boat and its not like a car that might climb in value. Whats 1200.00 for some fun on the water ? Too small after a while and not enough power with a boatload of kids, not hard to resell it for what you paid.

Could it be a good deal...yes, but most boats of that age need a complete gut and rebuild. Ask if he's replaced the floor, or if there's any rot. Many times when the floor rots out the owner just drops a new sheet of plywood over the top of the old rotten one and then the carpet hides everything. After he answers the question check every inch of the boat for rotten wood.

And before you go look at the boat read a bunch of the rebuild posts to know what you may be in for.
