Glass Fuel Bowl and Filter questions in a 59 Lark

Greetings,

My 59 Lark is having some problems and I may have linked to a fuel one (at least it's a start). Is there supposed to be a rubber gasket or O ring that seats the glass bowl tight? I'm getting fuel squirting out when I prime the engine and when it attempts to run.

I did have the bowl loosen up and fall out once when running so it's possible that the O ring could have fallen out. The little filter in the bowl is starting to crack, does anyone know where I can get a replacement for that?

Also, as I asked in another post, what is the safest way to check for spark without and special testers and without getting zapped?

Thanks again for your help in advance.

Yes, there's a gasket for that fuel bowl. Your local dealer should be able to get one for you. Preserve the bowl, since they're hard to come by.

As for the spark test, I call my idiot brother in law to come over and stick his pinky finger into the spark plug boot while I crank the engine. I can tell how good the spark is by how loudly he yells. :D

Seriously, an adjustable spark tester is cheap and should be in your toolbox.

You can lay the plugs against the block and spin it over. Spark should be bright blue/white with a sharp snap...
The filter and gasket are dealer items and should be readily available.

The sparks felt like it was a sharp snap alright!

anyway, does anyone know of the part # or the dimensions of the glass bowl seal? I'm guessing it's just an o-ring right?

thanks again for the help...

I have a 1956 15 Hp, don't know for sure if it is the same, but the bowl is P/N 303121(item # 62 on my list) and the gasket is 303122(item # 66). The gasket is 7/8 ID X 1 1/8 OD X 1/16" thick(flat) I am asuming BUNA-N material.Rick
