After trying to start a '57 Johnson 30hp I disconnected the fuel connector from the motor leaving the other side of the connector on the motor. When I did fuel ran out of the side still on the motor. It stopped when the fuel bowl was empty. This is a 2 line fuel line and pressure tank. Can anyone tell me why this happened. This motor has been sitting for years and this is the first time I've tried to start it. I have used another motor with the 2 lines and pressure tank and expect to see some fuel leak after separating the connector but not enough to empty the fuel bowl. THANKS FOR ANY HELP

I think the line connector has a check valve in it to stop backflow when line is disconnected. The valve could be stuck. I am sure someone with more experience will chime in and help you out.
