Glass fuse block or Blade

I am rewiring my 230 Wellcraft Coastal. It has a glass fuse block. Should I stay with what I have or change to a new blade type? They just appear to be a neater package. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think either is just as safe. The older 1 1/2 inch glass fuses have a larger selections of fuses. Beside more amperage selections you can get slow blow or fast blow.

Bottom line is either is just as safe so it more personal preference and price.

I would consider Blade fuses an upgrade, they are not soldered like glass fuses which should be a concern, and they are more resistant to corrosion. I don't know of any manufacturer that builds boats with glass fuses anymore, that should be a consideration as well.

That being said, as Boatist states its personal preference as to what you do they are both equally safe for their job

So many different type/size fuses. Am I the only one who seems to never have all the types of fuses used in my emergency repair supply. Seems every time I think I have them all, out comes another size. I do like the newer plug in fuses better than the older glass kind. The fuse panels are or seem much neater and the fuses are easy to check with a tester "thru the small holes in each end of the fuse? I do keep small needle nose plyers and/or the plastic pullers that come with the "assorted replacement kits". So guess I am ready for anything now. :) Hope so anyway. :-(

Almost forgot the newer blade type fuses will prevent some clown from wrapping tin foil around them like some folks did with the glass types. Then there was the idiot I read about that decided to use a LOADED 22 long rifle bullet in place of a blown glass headlight fuse..........and yes it did overheat and did shoot him where it changed his voice a bit too.

ATO blade fuses are more resistant to vibration.
