Ok I'm in the swing of finishing my boat and want to start getting the deck in. I'll be using 1/2" marine grade plywood. When glassing the bottom what would my minimal oz cloth be I would need including my chopped strand matt. 1 oz ? I have 17 oz for the top of the deck. I know I need to glass the top and bottom of the deck. Also should I paint the bottom of the deck?
Thanks in Advance
Ivan

1.5oz CSM is sufficient IMO, no need to add cloth for the bottom, your just water proofing it. Painting would further seal that wood.

Also Pour foam 2lb poly. What would I spray on the fiberglass the keep the foam from sticking to the box style hollow stringers. They are made from solid foam no wood what so ever.

Don't bother painting anything you don't see, it's of no value.

Why don't you want the foam to stick? PVA, thick wax, packing tape, a sheet of plastic.

They are large chambers. If recall correctly they are 11ft long 12 in wide and average of 5.5" deep. They are hollow stringers with zero wood in them. There is only two of them which they did in 1972-1973. When I tore out the old foam it came right out and had not stuck to the fiberglass which was wonderful. I want it to be the same way for the next man

I doubt there will be a "next man", but anything like wax, tape, plastic sheeting or even Crisco would work if you're serious about it.

Yeah, I agree. In fact IMHO you kinda WANT the foam to stick to the substructure. It'll add more structural integrity to the hull and stiffen it all up a bit.
