Glassing in stringers - Question on fiberglass thickness

Good evening,

I am replacing my stringers on my 1970 Glastron. All the old floor, stringers, etc has been removed, grinded. Currently measuring all the stringers. I am placing mat, woven, mat, mwoven, mat. That is about 1/8 of an inch of glass. How much height will the resin add to the glass. I am thinking another 1/8. I need this info to determine how high my stringer need to be since I took the 1/2 marine floor into account also.

Your thoughts.

If you can end up with 1/4" of material you should be fine. I'm thinking that the resin will be about 30 to 40 % of your total material thickness, that would be with straight resin, no additives such as colloidal. etc. But there would be no reason to add them in that situation anyway.

WDC, The resin will not add any appreciable height to the stringers. When you screw down the floor, the compression will squeeze out most of the resin. I therefore recommend you put a couple of layers of saturated cloth (maybe 1/8") on top of the stringers and then screw the floor down. It will bond much better.
