im curious as to how much cloth I should use on my stringers I have 6oz cloth and 1.50z Matt I have wrapped the stringers in the cloth and plan on laying a half inch thick piece of closed cell weather stripping foam under the stringers with some peanut butter on either side of the foam. Would 2 pieces of 6 oz cloth be ok with that Matt in between them? The boat is a 15 ft Starcraft American the old stuff was wrapped in woven roven. I want to try and avoid that stuff as I’ve heard it uses tons of epoxy. Also I was thinking the same for my transom?

I would be using 1708 stitched cloth on the stinger tabbing to the hull, if that is what you are asking. Can you past some pictures of the foam & PB arrangement to described.

Go to the diy stickies at top of forum. Go thru links 14 and 18

You need 1.5 oz GSM as base layer and two layers of 1708 tabbing.

Link 18 has a really nice sketch. Link 14 goes thru an entire restoration

If ur using epoxy, then just 4 staggered layers of the 6oz will be fine....no matt

I plan on using pb on both sides of that foam in the pic

I agree, If you're Using EEEEEEpoxy then 3 layers of the cloth is all you need. NO CSM when using Epoxy. 1st layer 1/3 up the side, 2nd 2/3rds up and final up and over. 18oz of fabric with 4 coats of epoxy and the stringers will be there forever
