I have come up with some glassing questions. Please forgive me for the newbie questions...

I am wondering how many mats I can layout for my deck replacement. I plan to use CSM and cloth with the non-wax resin and plan to do 3 layers of CSM and at least 2 or 3 layers of cloth.

Can I wet multiple mats at a time or do I need to do each at a time and let cure? I also need to know where to mount the pegged-seat plates. Do I place them between the wood and fiberglass or b/t the mat and cloth? I'm assuming I need extra material around the plates but what do you guys think? Thanks in advance.

Re: Glassing question

Your best bet is to do search here on this subject, it will answer many questions you don't even know you have yet.

To answer these though, one layer of csm and cloth is more than enough, more will only add weight and cost. All layers can be applied at one time.

As for the seat mount, you'll need to supply a pic, or brand and model for a good answer as to how it should be mounted.

Re: Glassing question

If you are talking about the casting seat mounts I have in mind. (pics are a plus) The plate is normally mounted on top of the finished deck. I have seen them mounted under carpet where all that is exposed is the hole. Normally a plastic trim ring is used in the hole to give it a finished look.
Its also a good idea to cap the hole when the seat is not in place to keep debris out of it.
