In the spring i bought a 1982 Glassmaster 17' footer, and I am about halfway through restoring it. I still need to paint and other odds and ends but the bulk of the work is done, and right now she's seaworthy :) I've had her out a couple times and its a great boat. Ok heres my problem -I've been scouring the internet and have found virtually NOTHING about the boat. Its a closed bow runabout, about 17.5 feet long, pretty wide beam(prob 75-80in), green topsides white hull, original motor which is a Mercury 80 inline4. I have the serial/hull ID number if that would help. I do know that it was bought and used by the Department of VA Inland Games and Fisheries, so maybe it is custom built?
I would also like to find new decals for the side, if anyone knows where to get those. I will get some pictures up later.

But I have never seen a boat that gets on plane so easy. I can remain on plane PULLING a skier, at 1500-2000 rpm or so). Can't wait till i put the 115 on it!

Re: Glassmaster identification?

I wish I could help as I am in the same boat (no pun intended). I believe mine to be 1983 15' closed bow runabout, with what I believe to be the original 1982 Mercury 50. The only clue I have is that it is a Model 500. The HIN was removed by a previous owner (I hope) and a new # was assigned by the State of NJ. Have any pics? I have pics posted on other threads in the Glassmaster section here. It has been a fun boat so far.

Re: Glassmaster identification?

yes it does! what model is yours?
also, Im thinking replaced my two swivel seats with the kind of seats you have
is there anyway i can make them myself, as in buy the vinyl and cushion and make the frame at the bottom, or would that not be worth the effort?

Re: Glassmaster identification?

Mine is a model 500, if it has a name I think it is Daytona. I don't think the seats are original because the bases are larger than the "pad" on the floor that they are on. They look to me to be pretty much the same seats as are in many boating catalogs, as well as in the iboats "store". The bases are plastic and there is an aluminum frame under the back portion so that the back half can come out of the base and fold out flat. I'll take a pic for you this week. I don't think it would be worth it to try to make some from scratch, but I bet you could find them cheap on Ebay or Craigslist. You may even find a whole boat with them for less than it would cost to buy them new.
