Hi, can anyone help me out who has a similar Glastron. Year 1980 twin Mercruiser 470's with the pre Alpha drives. The boat has 29pitch props at the moment and I am not sure if these are correct for the vessel. at idle (750rpm) the vessel does 12 knt and at WOT it does 49 knt, (4100rpm) speeds are derived from the gps, very fast but a pain in the marina with a 3 knt speed limit. If anyone has a similar vessel can they tell me what props they have and what performace they experience.

I dont mind loosing the top end a bit, the boat is on the plane by 21 knts and I would like to make it a bit easier to dock etc at idle.

Thanks

John

Re: Glastron Aventura 266 prop size

Thank you, I have been thinking and looking at all the info and calculators for prop size and it would appear that I am hitting the ideal with regard to WOT, if I fit a smaller prop I will not make a great deal of difference to the low end but could risk over reving at the top end. I will ponder a bit more and have a trawl in the prop section and see if it's worth a post there. Other option is an electric trolling motor for docking

Re: Glastron Aventura 266 prop size

I sent an e-mail to the Glastron factory, asking if there were any records from when my boat was built re prop size etc, answer back from Glastron as follows;

"John,

Sorry we do not have this information, back in 1991 the Glastron Mfg.
plant that was located in Texas closed the door and production was transferred to Little Falls Minnesota and this information got lost during this transition.

DonZ"

So it looks like 1) I am off to the prop forum and 2) Glastron don't operate to ISO9000 (retention of records)
