Anyone try these on a BB chevy? My OEM manifolds and risers are 6 years old and I figure they will need replacement soon. The maker of these claims they give more power and more even cooling. Wondering if anyone has had any experience.

Cheers

Supposedly Dennis Moore had something to do with it and the design.

You certainly have a hard time beating the price. I purchased a different set. They seemed to be OK to me.

Good manifolds and at a good price. I thought I read a week or so ago that GLM had come out with a new version of that manifold that also water cooled the lower part of the manifold where the exhaust runners are. Its supposed to help stop them from rusting away from heat and corrosion.

Been using them for about a year on customer's boats and haven't had a problem. Did find out last week they make them in alum for somewhere around $200 more per set. Comes in a kit with manifolds, risers gaskets and bolts.

I saw the aluminum too. They are 80 lbs lighter than stock and that's more than half the difference between a small block and a big block, if memory serves. A weight savings like that is pretty impressive. Wondering how well they'd hold up corrosion wise though. Would seem to me that aluminum would act as a sacrificial anode for the iron block but perhaps I have my metal nobility differences confused and the block would be sacrificed for the manifolds. What's the intake made of on a 7.4 MPI?

The alum manifolds have zincs that you are suppose to change out every six months. The warranty on the alum manifolds are one year vs three on the cast iron.

I installed aset of the FE ones about a year ago. I run 99% time in salt water and very happy with them.

Question for Mike Neal. Did you notice any difference in performance? I have closed cooling and IMCO stainless risers and am considering buying the aluminum GLM's for my SBC 400. I figure the weight savings alone will help the performance but Dennis claims they help by their design.

Sierra sent one of those 18 wheelers loaded with new stuff and invited the area mechanics down to the local Hooters for beer and wings last week. So I told the son to go represent the shop and find out what was new. After I sobered him up the next day, he said Sierra was gonna have their version of the alum manifold out this spring but was going to ceramic coat the water passages. Maybe one day soon he'll remember what else he witnessed.

Re: GLM brand exhaust manifolds

I noticed a very slight increase, I did them at same time as full tune up though so not the best test of the manifolds and risers only. From the cut away views they must flow better. Don't expect a 10 mph increase though. :)
