Glovebox Lock

My '99 GS-201 has a locking compartment under the captain's seat. I would like to lock items in the compartment but I don't have a key. The lock is unlocked so at least I can use the compartment but I can't lock it.

Does anyone know of a replacement lock or if I can get a key made for the lock? Could I obtain a new lock from Godfrey?

Thanks.

Re: Glovebox Lock

I contacted the original owner of the boat regarding the keys. I got really lucky and he still had the keys and gave them to me.

Re: Glovebox Lock

A cheap and dirty hack to make it work would be to
1) find a key that fits in it
2) Take the lock apart so you can see the tumblers(assuming there is a nut on the back that lets you take it apart (instead of requiring the key to disassemble)
3) Insert the key and then take some sort of grinding device and grind the tumblers flush with the cylinder.
4) Profit

That will make it work for free, assuming you have a key that will fit and the lock can come apart.

The other option would be to take it to a locksmith
