I have searched the forum and could not find my answer, so sorry if this question has been asked before.

I am new to the I/O world. I just picked up a bayliner with a GM 350 v8 and a volvo 280 outdrive. The motor has fresh water cooling system on it. Runs great.

My question is, what temp does this motor need to run at? I ran it all day today, and it would fluxuate from 160-180. Is this too hot?

Thanks.

change the impeller and thermostat. Volvos use 140 degree T-stats

Thanks. I order a 140 degree thermostat. i was reading that these volvo outdrives dont have a impeller in them? so the motor is going to have a water pump?

Re: GM 350 I/O engine temp

you should have the raw water pump mounted to the crank. 4 small bolts to remove the impeller cover.
