WAY more trouble than it's worth. There are no marine parts for that engine. Like flywheel cover, engine coupler, water cooled exhaust system, CG approved fuel system and ignition system and the list goes on.

I have a 1978 Sea Ray 185 boat w/ an inline 6 mercruiser motor (250 cubic inch). I have fought the old water in the oil issue, and about decided that I have a cracked block that is not repairable.

My question is: has anyone tried to put a L6 motor in a boat? Here is one on ebay:

No way in 'ell that can become a Marine motor...
