After spendin time on a couple other brand related sites(Crestliner and Sea
Nymph),I felt compelled to come over to the Lund board and just make up my mind that the A-14 Lund is the boat for me seeing as I had one before,...after
making the stupid mistake of using it as a down payment on a camper. I miss
that A-14 terribly and wish I had her back. As you can see by my choice of boats,I am a dedicated "tiller man" and also like to keep things down right simple. Since the boat is considered a Utility boat and since it does not come
pre-rigged from the factory with a motor(Mercury being the one it would come
with if that were the case),I am thinking of putting Yamaha's new F15C four
stroke motor on this boat. Now if I can just find a Lund dealer that is a "loose motor" dealer for Yamaha and will put the motor I WANT on this boat. I am
casting Crestliner and Sea Nymph aside in favor of staying with Lund,...and
why not?

Re: Going back to A-14

I had an A-12 years ago and it was by far the best aluminum boat that I have ever owned.. I sold it to upgrade to the A-14 but never did.

Now I am looking to get a 14'.
Do you know how the Alumacraft 14 stacks up against the A-14?

What is the price of an A-14?

Re: Going back to A-14

Well, I ended up getting a Lund A14 after all. Its been years since my A12.

I ended up paying much less for a Lund A14 than the Alumacraft 14 foot.
I think both are high quality, but I like the Lund better.

I got a leftover for a great price.
I already had a 15hp 2 stroke Johnson with less than 10 hours on it.
The first weekend I got it I spent 10 hours on it! Man I love it.
There is something really great about fishing on a small aluminum boat. I have access to a 24' Whaler, but this is more fun. Much more flexible, can fish in shallow water, easy to pull up to shore for surf fishing.
And the best part is it uses hardly ang gas at all. 10 hours of fishing and less than 2 gallons used!

I really want to deck this boat out for fishing. The first priority is rod holders, but not sure about drilling the hull.
Does anyone have any ideas for mounting?
Also, a troller motor would be great for silent propulsion.
I want to install nav lights as I fish at night.

Would a yamaha 20hp 4stroke elec. start be too heavy on a alumacraft V14?

If you go up and read my post about considering an SSV-16,you will see that
I have mentioned that I am staying with the A-14. I would not drill any holes in that boat at all. I would try to find clamp-on rod holders instead. That A-14
is a heck of a little boat. You did not go wrong on your decision, believe me. I
also found the Lund A-14 to be less money than a comparable Alumacraft,...
and still have a great little boat that will last for a good many years. Glad you love that A-14. I used to be a member of a fishing website here in Indiana and
was banned from it(more on that in my other post)because I told a guy on there that Lund's boats were far better than his Bass Tracker was. He told
me "Good luck with the Lund because you're going to need it!". Heck with him,
then, and to heck with that fishing website, too. If those guys only knew!!!
