anyone know if my boat should have a separation plate between the exhaust manifold and elbow. Dont have one in there now and I am still overheating. Thought the separation plate was for close system. # 9 in the pic.

Thanks

Look at it this way. If you have a hose going to the exhaust elbow (riser) then you need a separation plate. If you don't have a hose going to the exhaust elbow then you do not. Without a hose going to the exhaust elbow you need water coming from the exhaust manifold to pass through to the elbow and out the exhaust

Got it. Thanks. Cant imagine why there never was a separation plate there. Hope this helps with the over heating situation.

Peace

Hang on, there may not be a separation plate involved. When does it overheat, what RPMs?

You know I might have misspoke. According to the manual it still shows a vented separation plate. If something is vented then it doesn't separate in my books. Figured since it has a hose going to and from the cooling then it could be separated, but who knows. Maybe put one in and see what heat changes.

The small hole is an air bleed. The plate still acts as a separation plate... forcing water to a prescribed path...
