going out today (update)

Well, the wifes at her mothers with the kids, and I took the day off, so off to the lake I go. Its gonna be 47 degrees today, but the wind is going to be around 15 mph. That means itll be rough on the water, but I cant stand it anymore! The boat has been calling my name for some time now, so I must take her out. Started the motor awhile ago, a little slow to start, but it was 28 degrees, so I dont balme it for being contrary. I am also going to try out the crappie jigs that I have made. Hopefully the crappie and walleye will perform a self sacrifice to the the peanut oil gods.

WELLLLLL, the boat floats, the motor runs, and I kept the open side up.( but wasnt to sure that I was gonna be able to) The wind was crankin! probably 15 mph steady, with gusts to 20-25. Thats not great boating on any lake, but on Stockton lake, it is dang near suicide. The way the lake lays, it is always windy there. Im talkin about 2 foot waves today!And we need rain something awful. It was about 13 feet below normal. But on the upside, I was able to see alot of brush piles and structure that I didnt know was there. As for the fish fry, the fish decided that it wasnt a good idea. I got one bite and that was it. It was too windy to feel your lures, and my 28 pound thrust motor laughed at me when I tried to keep the boat in one spot. Oh well, safe and sound and back in one piece. Cant complain about that I guess.

Two foot waves??? That all?? Geesh, the Walleye around here don't even think of biting until at least three! And a 15mph wind would just start to put us on a good drift!

Gonna try to catch some on sunday. This time we are going to take my buddies boat. I spent 45 bucks on gas to catch some windburn.
