I have a 17 foot crestliner alum duck and fishing boat and i fish lake and rivers. Before i got a jet lowwer end for rivers i banged up a few props. now that i don't have to watch my prop I would like to go ss. I have a merc 2005 4 stroke 60 hp is it worth going ss? if so do I stay with same size prop?

I dont understand if you have a Jet or a Prop..
If a prop, whats the one you have now and what RPM does it hit at WOT and what are you trying to correct?

Re: going prop shopping

I have both . I have a merc efi 60hp 2005 about a year ago I bought a jet lowwer end for river fishing because I would ding my prop. I use the prop for lakes and I fish 2 times a week in the delta. I want a new prop I use a 10.13x 15 #qu2084 right prop but was told SS is better and faster is it worth the money for SS anf if so do I stay with the same size prop. I need to buy a new one just seeing if it's worth the money.

If your always dinging your props I'd stay with aluminum or look at the pirahna props (replaceable blades). Stainless has a higher chance of imparting damage to your lower if you hit something with it, though in deeper water it is the best prop you can get.

Re: going prop shopping

ALL,

The OP, fish finder 101, uses a jet boat when fishing in shallows and his prop boat when in the Delta. Now that he only uses his prop boat in the deep, he wants to get a new prop and is curious if going to SS is worth the money or which other brands he might consider.

Fish finder 101,

I know this has gone in circles a bit, but stay focused, fill in the data here as we are still missing your attained max rpm and the engine rated max rpm. Anyway, read this link and share more data http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=287818

You "normally" do change pitch when going to SS as the efficiency is higher so rpm will "usually" reduce.

Get us the new information and we'll get you some better answers.
