Brendan,
Your link didn't work for me so the info on the boat could not be viewed. As far as a 1999 Crownline 248CCR, it should be a decent boat if the previous owner took care of it. I know of no common or known problems with the boat itself. Crownline started using XL plywood in 1998 which comes with a lifetime warranty against rot. Some Bravo 3 outdrives had corrosion issues with the bearing carrier assembly back then. Merc addressed the problem and the newer carrier assemblies have a green color.

One thing that would be worthwhile to check on the outdrive is the play in the outdrive/steering. If the steering arm/gimbal ring bolt torque was not checked when serviced, the gimbal ring may be worn and need to be replaced. Grab the outdrive and try to move it side to side. If the outdrive moves several inches side to side and the steering wheel doesn't move, I'd have it evaluated by a mechanic or negotiate on the price.

but everything looked good. they said that they will do a full 80 point inspection, fix some small things for us, and fully detail it before we pick it up in two weeks
