Going to Mexico Beach in 2 weeks

I hear the Spanish and Kings are hitting pretty good just off the second sand bar right now. How far out can we expect the Red Snapper to be? We're new at this so any advice to help us hook into a few would be appreciated. We're planning to drag some Clark Spoons up and down the beach from Port St. Joe to Mexico Beach. Mainly just messing around but it'd be great to get the kids into a few good fish.
