I am worried about snaping the bolts off because they recommend torquing them tight. Should I be worried

Do you mean taking them off, or putting them back on. What is your spec? I redid a 90 hp force, and don't recall having any trouble like that, but the torque spec was within reason.

Make sure you are reading the manual right because mine in listed in inch lbs not foot lbs for the head bolts. To convert from in-lbf to ft-lbf multiply by: 0.083333309
Conversion result: 120 in-lbf equals 9.999997 ft-lbf.

I went to ask.com to get this conversion hope it helps, sounds funny though

The formula sounds good. Multiplying by .08333 and dividing by 12 are the same, mathematically.

Snapping bolts off? Naaah...just follow the "torque and turn" method precisely.Make sure the bolts are CLEAN(ie;wire brush them)and lube the treads AND bottom of bolt heads with your 2 cycle oil. Go with an inch pound torque wrench though.A foot pound wrench is too iffy on this low rating. Good luck

early models (up to 94) torque was 21 ft lbs
94 and newer is 120 inch lbs plus 90 degrees
if its torque & turn recomend using new head bolts
