I have a 1999 Searay 215 express cruiser with a 5.0 mercruiser and a alpha 1 outdrive. I was thinkingh of converting it to thru hull exhaust and everything is stock now. Is there is a way around spending thousands of dollars and getting headers ect or can i use my existing ex. manifolds and risers. i was thinking maybe i can buy just the tips and run that exhaust hose from the riser thru the transome to the tips..Can someone please let me know if this is possible?
i also have a 1978 hawaiian jet boat with thru hull and it looks like that is how they got it run on that boat..thank sin advance for your help

Yup, your fitting that goes through the hull is what will be different.

you can decide whether to use the outdrive exhaust or just close things up at the transom assembly.

If you go with both thru-hull and outdrive exhaust, you will need a 'Y' pipe to split the flow.

You'll need an exhaust block off plate. Here is a nice one that is stainless steel and is cheaper than most others. Usually their aluminum and go for around $45. The aluminum ones end up rotting away.
Teague Custom Marine TCM STAINLESS EXHAUST BLOCK-OFF PLATE - Exhaust Flapper - Exhaust Accessories and Related - EXHAUST

Do a search for "Alpha exhaust block off plates" and compare.

I put thru - hull on my Celebrity boat at the end of last year. And i hate it.... Tho my 22 yr old son loves it. Way too load for me!

So here is what im doing over the winter to quiet it down...... All hand made and all i bought was the exhaust hose.

Now i can shut them off and direct it down the Y pipe when i in the boat!

Good Luck!

Lol, poor-man's Captain's Call exhaust diverter! Look good to me, a little difficult to change without a screwdriver, but whatever works!

Yea.......Poor man Switchable exhaust!

The noise is just Obnoxious when on plane...sounds good at the dock.......

Flick of the switch and no noise (Lift engine cover 2 sec, undo 2 screws.. flip diverter.. reinstall screws 10 sec) Priceless!
+ i saved $1000.00 Dollers. :joyous:

They do; it's a block off plate that gets mounted on the transom assembly after you remove the bullhorn. This would require engine removal. If you're up for that, the thru hull is a pretty cheap/easy change.

My suggestion (FWIW) is to just convert to what Corsa refers to as "Quick and Quiet II". This is both through hull and through prop exhaust through a non-switchable diverter (y-pipe). In your case, get the diverters (sometimes you can find them on ebay pretty cheap), the tips and a short length of hose. The diverter plugs into your existing bullhorn so you wouldn't have to pull the engine to do it. Unlike switchable diverters there's nothing to break; that's a plus. The worst part is drilling 4" holes in your transom.

If you're doing this for the sound you'll like it. If you're doing it for increased performance you may be disappointed.

Lol, yeah "may be disappointed". More like absolutely will be disappointed if any performance gain is expected!

You can buy rubber exhaust hose, clamps stainless exhaust tips and stainless steel elbows off eBay, can I suggest you go 100mm dia / 4" it’s a lot quieter and you get a deeper note. If you want to fit a plate at the bottom end of your "Y" pipe adapter the engine will have to be pulled out to fit it. I did this to my boat for a few hundred dollars and it sound great.

That's for switchable. Non-switchable is much cheaper.
