Good boat or not ?

Hi people,
This is my first post on this site from a little distance away (that land downunder) and I was wondering if anyone could possibly give me some advice on a brand of boat.

The Seaswirl brand has just arrived in Oz and first appearances seem quite good. They haven't even put it in the water yet. The style of boat is significantly different to that which is produced here ie hull depth, bow flare etc.

The particular craft we are looking at is a Striper 2101 walkaround outboard.

Is there anyone there that owns or has owned this particular boat, or has had any experience with this brand in relation to their reliabilty, performance etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Russ

PS Happy New Year ( Ours is in 2 hours)

I don't know anything technical about this boat but I will add this: I think it's a gorgeous boat and I'd love to have one for myself.

By the lack of replies, does this mean no one owns a Sea Swirl ?

Russ

SeaSwirl is owned by GenMar, which makes some mighty fine boats, including:

Carver®
Crestliner®
Four Winns®
Glastron®
Larson®
Lowe®
Lund®
Ranger®
Seaswirl®
Stratos®

http://www.genmar.com/

I wouldn't hesitate to own one of these, if I could afford it.

I see a lot of Seaswirls in my area, which tells me they seem to be popular. Couldn't tell you the quality, but they seem well built.

If you would list the other US brands sold in your market then we could offer some comparisons.

Kelly Cook

Kelly - we mainly have bayliner trophy and a few wellcraft coastal. With a smattering with a couple- now - boston whalers.

I have checked the compnay websites but cannot seem to find any boat tests.

Russ

The Striper series of boats has a good reputation here.

Hi Russ,

Happened to catch your post on THT with a search. Dunno why the wheels came off over there today.

Quality wise, don't think there is a heck of lot of difference between Seaswirl/Trophy/Wellcraft. Of course the Boston Whalers are a pricey premium boat.

Bigger difference in the designs. I really like the way Trophy handles their I/O configurations. But for an OB boat the Wellcrafts do have a nice sporty look. All a matter of personal preference, not which is "better". Here are some more THT threads on these brands -

aquasport 225 vs seaswirl striper 2301
(Aquasport is the identical twin to Wellcraft)

Seaswirl or Trophy??

Don't forget sea trials, :)
Kelly Cook
