Good Compression?

I just purchased a 22 ft Mako with a Evinrude 185 hp. its been sitting for 8+ years. 343 hours on the hour meter. It fired right up with fuel and a battery.
So I put new fuel lines cleaned the carbs new plugs and wires and a water impeller and thermostats.

It starts right up and runs as smooth as a new motor now.

I've only ran it for approx. 10-15 minutes with water hooked up .

The compression reads between 92-95 psi on each cylinder. Is this a normal compression with an engine that has sit for 8+ years? Will the compression increase after running on the lake for a short while? or is this close to the normal running compression on this engine?

Thank You for your input.

92 - 95 psi sounds a little low, but it might just be the gauge and/or how you are using it. The numbers are close which is good. You might want to run a few cans of Engine Tuner through it to ensure the rings are free.

You say the engine is a 185hp that's been sitting 8 years, but you don't say what year it is..... Engine model number?
