Re: Good deal?
My opinion, the price might be competitive.
Bayliners are not known for holding up. Finding a 10 year old Bayliner with a good interior is next to impossible around here. Even if every precaution was taken they still crack out. They just don't use very high quality vinyl.
The actual design of the hull is good and they do use competitive equipment else where in their boats.
I am a merc fan so do like that about them. But the 3.0 is a roll of the dice. If you get a good one, you wont have any trouble out of it, it'll fire up every time, very dependable and it will last. If you don't... First time it dont start.... get rid of it ASAP, you got a bad one that will be a money pit and you'll spend more time working on it every time your out than you will using it.
All boats are like that, but the merc 3.0 seems to have a higher percentage of lemons. I wouldn't buy one unless I knew the person that had it and knew they hadn't had any trouble out of it. If I knew that then I wouldn't even pause. Otherwise I have to wonder why they are getting rid of it and assume it's a lemon.
ETA:
For the money you can probably find a better boat.... especially right now, prices aren't doing so good. There are more sellers than buyers this year.
