My son and I were on our way to go fishing this last Saturday and things where clicking right along. We get to the lake, lauch the boat and i pull over to the courtesy dock and leave my son to hold the boat while i pull the truck & trailer out and park it. I am on my way back down to the dock, look down at the dock and see our boat purpendicular to the dock and about 6' off and i think to myself, "Thats not right" . The dock is about 200 yards away so i keep walking and watching. As I get closer i see my son at the bow of the boat, chest deep in water, arms stretched out trying to pull the boat back to the dock! Now the water is pretty cold, so at this point i am begining to worry about him and the boat. My pace quickens and I see another friendly boater head over and help him hold the boat and get back on the dock! :) Now there was not much wind or waves at the dock so i am wondering what the heck happend! Well, it turns out that another boater at the dock that was having engine trouble, started to drift away, and my son, being the good boyscout that he is, went to help them get back to the dock and during that time our boat drifted away!
So in he went to get it!
All said and done, no boats were lost and no one was hurt!
And we caught some bass!
It was a good day!

You have a good boy there. granted he should have tied your boat befoe helping someone else, But the shear fact that he went in after the boat rather then just standing there or yelling for you is something you should be proud of.

And they say kids today dont give a hoot. I guess they dont know your boy. Its all about how you are brought up...................you must be doing something right there 78fourwinns. I have two young boys myself, and they continue to amaze me. They are much better behaved than I was at their age.
Being the good boyscout that your boy is, I say he deserves a merit badge. :)
