Good engine? 175 Johnson 2 stroke 2003

I am considering the purchase of a 2003 Aquasport center console with a 175 Johnson 2 stroke made by Bomadier. Only 20 hours on the engine. I was looking for a 4 stroke but this deal came up that is too good to pass. <br />I've had a 120 hp Force 2 stroke since 1994. Problems with the stator, head gasket, etc. and had to rebuild it completely after 10 years after about 250 hours. I'm not very satisfied.<br />All recommendations about the performance and dependability of the Johnson product would be appreciated.

IMHO, it will be as good, or better, than any two stroke out there.

I have seen a lot of problems with force engines wearing out early in their life. I would not say that it is a problem with 2 strokes in general, rather an issue with the force design, that is just my opinion. The johnson you are looking at SHOULD be a very nice motor. It all depends on how it was taken care of and how hard it was run but it doesnt sound like it has been run much at all. I think you would have a very good experience with this motor.
