Not sure if this is how its suppose to be done but what I want to do is make sure that absolutely no water gets into the hull by completely sealing the deck with fiberglass.

I want have the drain plug under the splash well just incase somehow water does get into the hull. And as for the water that is in the splash well, I plan on pumping it out with a bilge pump.

Is this how its normally done?

Thanks

Generally yes that is how all the glass guys are doing their boats fully sealing in the deck with glass. Even most of us Aluminum guys are putting a layer of glass on our decks to seal the wood.

Ah the perfect world with a perfectly sealed hull and to make it even better, the deck would never rot due to screw holes etc. I wish you all the best in your endeaver but I don't think it's going to happen. But you may be on to something here so keep up the good work.

To address your question, the splash well is the portion of upper cap directly in front of motor (Normal to have a 1" drain hole in center if you slow down suddenly and take a wave from astern) Most sealed decks are out board powered and are also self bailing, as in one scupper (drain) on each side with a hull drain only accessible from outside and the lowest point on the rear of transon. If you have an opening in stern that goes down to the keel it isn't sealed and you will have to mechanically pump out the water from this area.

Good luck on idea and let us know
