Got the call today that my motor is not cracked or damaged. The mechanic isolated the motor and put 15psi of preasure on it and checked it two hours later and it still had 15psi.
He said the boat had sat with water in the bilge. He said there is a distinctive high water line that runs along the transom and along the block. He said more then likely the water seeped in past the seals over the winter. He drained the Grande Mocha Frapa a rapa chino and put oil in it and fired it up. He said it needs a tune up and maybe a carb rebuild. He said she is not running real happy right now. I am going to get it and do the maintenance myself. I think the carb just needs adusted right now.
I talked to the PO. He said he has always wintereized his boat and put it in indoor storage. However, last year he was unable to get indoor storage so it was winterized and parked outside with a cover. He said he knows for a fact that the drain plug was out of the boat. However, it does not take much for something to block the drain whole and prevent it from leaking. He changed the oil when he winterized it. So when I checked it, it looked good. Unaware that the bottom of the pan was holding the water and the top held the oil. I was just a little over full but not to much. Therefore, when I took the boat out it was making Mocha Frapachino without me knowing.
I have to say the PO has been very helpful and cooperative with me. He has not offered to pony up any money but the diagnosis was $120 which is not allot for the peace of mind of knowing it was properly done.
Thanks for all the support here and I think I will start a new thread about my boat because I plan to make some improvements and I will probably have to do the transom at some point because of the water issue. Recommendations on names for my boat are welcome. I titled my first post Precious Metal because I considered that name.
