I figured I would give you guys some good news. I recently rebuilt all the carbs on my motor, as well as the fuel pumps, stator, fuel lines and all the wiring. So. I went to start it up today. Started right up within about 8-12 seconds!!!! I was happy. I think it only took that long because the bowls in the carbs were empty because they were just rebuilt. I only ran it a few minutes cuz it wasn't too warm out. Gotta do some adjusting on the shift linkage as it was in gear. (I think I just hooked it up the lower unit wrong).

Anyhow, figured I'd put some good news out there. Also some pics.

Re: Good news.

Put the shifter in N, drop the LU just low enough to get the rod off the splined shaft of the LU. With a pair of pliers carefully rotate it whichever way it wants to go till you get it in the center position. It's detent cam loaded so it has 3 distinct stopping points corresponding to FNR.

If you do it carefully, your drive shaft and water tube will still be in place and you can just slide it back together.
