Good NJ mechanic for 72' merc

I am hoping that someone out there can point me to a good mechanic in the northern NJ area. I have a 72' 65hp Merc and have been finding out that no one will work on it due to the age.

The engine runs good, however I have recently purchased it and just want someone to give it a good look over.

Please help.

hey..did u get my message on merc controls? anyways i had the same problum finding a mech to work on my old merc when i first bought it as i was so used to evinrude.. what i finally had to do was read the books on the motor and u have any ques start calling around and talking to differ mech.. i know i paid one merc mech and he didnt do anything for me..ur better off talking to people on here and reading the manual looking the moter over yourself..u will find that you save money and learn alot more..

Got you message on merc controls. I printed out the directions and am giving it a try this weekend.

Thanks for the advice on working on the motor myself. I am not that mechanically inclined however I am going to give some basic stuff a shot.
