They have been known to break crankshafts, particularly if underpropped and allowed to rev to high. I have a couple of older 35hp versions and they have been decent motors.<br /><br />Basic physical (check compression, lower unit seals, etc.) should be done, and then a basic tune-up if it passes the first step...<br />- Scott
