Yamaha 25hp tiller handle, short shaft, manual start, oil injected 2 cylinder outboard motor with a alumium prop in excellent condition.

ad says $1600. what does the forum say?

i say its about $ 600 to much. ( even at $1000, id tell the seller that i'd pay for the fuel for a half hour on the water with it.)

still 23 years old. $600; $800 if he's a good salesman

I'm with HC on this one, 6-8 sounds like a good ballpark number and that is if it checks out with compression ect, no way $1600, maybe if was 10-12 years newer.

Good point; first thing I'd have to do is buy a SS prop. Knock off $100.

Many used motors that age come with SS. (hint-always save the alum for when you sell it!)

That does sound a bit high. There is a guy selling a brand new, never sold 2001 merc 25hp 4 stoke, elec st, short shaft tiller with a 1 year warranty for 1595. He has a couple left overs from prev years .

I missed something here-the original poster didn't give the age. I've read it over and over and unless something about the description gave its age away, I'm at a loss.

Re: good price on this yamaha?

i KNOW I edited this thread right after i created it, adding the year. I guess it might have been the other, duplicate thread. I can't find that one now. At any rate, i think the ob is a 91. it was a dealer. i sent a few texts and it was apparent they were stuck on 1600. after i said i didn't agree with the price, the salesman actually got pissed and sent me a few nasty texts. i guess he hasn't figured it out yet...

I just wondered how the others who replied knew the year. It does does sound a bit high, but it does make me feel better about my buy.

A few years ago, I bought this mint 87 30HP for $950.

I sold it last year for $1300.
