good switch panel for re-wire

I'm about to start a re-wire and the one thing I can't find is a good switch panel. The ones at west marine and blue seas are so ugly looking to me (sorry if you have one )... you know the grey ones with the toggle switches and the stick on labels.

I want something that looks more OEM for a nice rebuilt look... without breaking the bank preferably.

Any suggestions?

Greatlakesskipper dot com or ebay user name greatlakesskipper

They sell different stuff on ebay, from the stuff on their website.

Factory oem surplus.

I have bought a switch panel with fuse panel for one boat.

I had a panel with circuit breakers for another boat.

Current boat project has a switch panel, and a separate fuse panel with the blade fuses. I like the blade fuses better, easier to read the amperage on them, easier to change.

They sell complete dash panels with gauges also.

Re: good switch panel for re-wire

Thanks guys...

I really like the look of the rocker switches from Great Lakes Skipper. I also would like to have breakers too. I'm thinking this one from Great Lakes looks pretty good. But this one has the breakers I'm looking for.

I need 6 switches so neither one of these is perfect though.. and they don't match my loads. If I go with the bigger do you think I can switch the switches out to leave the ones I'm not going to use over to one side?

Re: good switch panel for re-wire

Well I was just wondering if I could move the switch positions around. So that the "unused" ones were grouped over to one side... I could just use an "accessory" switch for the loads that the labels don't match. Now that I look at the pics close though, it looks like they have the labels also screen printed under the switch, so moving them around might not work.

I'm going to look around some more before pulling the trigger on this panel.

Have you considered just making your own? I had the same problem when looking at completed panels they were ugly, would not fit right and were very expencive. We just made a new panel to fit the area and then purchased the switches and LED lights and cost about 1/3 the cost of a purchased panel.

Just an idea!!

wow, you did a great job there... how did you print the labels on the panel?

I found a pretty cool option on eBay. this guy builds a "semi-custom" panel the switches you need. I'm going to put in a question to see about a 6 switch option... will let you know.

Thanks,

It is all sign vinyl and the lettering was cut on a vinyl cutter. Any sign shop can do this for you. You can make them say anything you want and any color. I covered my panels in yellow vinyl then did all the lettering in gray vinyl.

Here is a pic of the complete dash that all the panels were done this way.

Re: good switch panel for re-wire

OK, I settled on a panel from these Guys that I had found in that ebay search.

It's a small company for sure... I think I dealt with the owner, but the panel is great. For a little extra $$ I was able to get exactly the switches I was looking for on a professional looking panel.

I'll try to take some actual pictures and post them when I get home.

Thanks for everyone's help!
